Mediation

Why  Mediation?

Why Choose Mediation?
Mediation is typically faster, more cost-effective, and less adversarial than traditional litigation. It encourages compliance with agreements and fosters peaceful resolutions in cases involving children, property division, and financial support. Working with a professional mediator who understands family law, dynamics, and individual personalities ensures solutions are fair, practical, and legally sound.

Personalized Family Mediation Services

Courts often apply a one-size-fits-all approach to family matters, but every family is unique. Mediation provides a flexible, private, and collaborative alternative, allowing parties to create solutions that work for their specific circumstances, all within the bounds of the law and on their own timeline.

Mediation for Unmarried and Expecting Parents
Navigating co-parenting as an unmarried couple or parents-to-be can feel unfamiliar and overwhelming. Mediation offers a structured way to negotiate parenting responsibilities, communication, and long-term plans, helping families move forward cooperatively.

Divorced Families and Plan Modifications
Families seeking to modify existing parenting or support agreements can benefit from mediation, creating updated plans that reflect current needs. Even couples considering divorce can use mediation to resolve differences before filing, potentially reducing conflict and simplifying court proceedings.

Effective Representation in Mediation
As a family attorney and mediator with extensive high-conflict litigation experience, I help couples reach peaceful, practical agreements. I guide clients through child custody, timesharing, alimony, property division, child support and paternity matters avoiding court whenever possible. Mediation supports a smoother transition, prioritizing family relationships and creating agreements built to last.

When needed, I collaborate with other professionals to address each family’s unique needs. I also offer evening and weekend sessions in a comfortable setting, with or without attorneys. Parties leave mediation with a clear agreement and a parenting plan ready for court approval, minimizing uncertainty and stress.

How Does Mediation Work?

The process can be done in several ways, either with parties alone or with their attorneys and other professionals. It can occur in one long session or be broken down into 1-3 hour meetings. The goal is to negotiate a written agreement that covers issues of parenting, property division, and support and a plan to help the entire family transition as seamlessly as possible.

At Seaglass Law & Mediation, I provide nights and weekend options for busy families trying to keep work and children schedules intact.
